What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link carries a tracking code identifying this site as the referrer. If you click one and go on to buy something, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale. The price you pay is identical either way. You are never charged more, and no discount is withheld from you for using our link.
Affiliate links are labelled on the pages where they appear. Pages containing them carry a disclosure at the top, before the content, rather than only here.
What commission does not buy
- It does not decide which products we cover. Coverage follows what people are asking about, not what pays best.
- It does not change an assessment. Where a product’s published disclosure is poor, we say so, commission or not.
- It does not buy placement. No brand can pay to appear on this site, to appear higher, or to be described more favourably. We do not accept sponsored posts, paid guest posts or link insertions, and we do not respond to outreach offering them.
- It does not cause omission. We cover products with no affiliate programme, and we recommend them where they are the better answer.
- It does not manufacture a purchase. Where the honest conclusion is that you already own something adequate, or that nothing in a category is worth buying, that is what the page says.

Product prices and availability shown on this site are accurate as of the date and time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon.com at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of the product.
Where a price appears in our own text rather than in a live widget, treat it as an indication of the price band only. Check the retailer before buying.
Cookies set by affiliate links
Clicking an affiliate link sets a cookie in your browser recording that you arrived at the retailer from this site. That is the mechanism by which commission is attributed. It expires after a period set by the retailer — 24 hours in Amazon’s case for most products.

Why we disclose this prominently
The US Federal Trade Commission requires that material connections between a publisher and a seller be disclosed clearly and conspicuously — meaning near the recommendation, not buried in a footer. Amazon’s Associates Programme Operating Agreement requires the statement at the top of this page on any site participating in it.
Beyond the requirement: this site exists to tell people what is actually in the products they buy. Concealing how it is funded would undercut the point of it.
